Headphones

Most headphone amplifiers use standard IC Opamps in their designs. Such opamps are very cheap and easy to apply, however they are inferior. This is because they are not tailored for a particular audio circuitry, and they contain many low quality and unnecessary components which degrade audio signals.

Thus Burson developed the HA-160 headphone amplifier. Instead of using standard IC opamps on the signal path, they designed tailor-made circuitry using high quality discrete components enabling them to reduce components on the signal path to optimise its operation. It offered higher resolution and superior dynamics to any IC based design, and yet presented a mid range intonation that many thought only possible from top-tier tube amps.

The HA-160 input stage is able to achieve ideal operational levels with only 32 carefully selected and matched discrete components. By reducing the number of components on the signal path, more micro details were able to get through. The result is a higher definition and more organic sound compared to any IC chip based design.

Firestone Audio’s new FR-H001 Headphone Stand is the perfect way to display and look after your headphones when not in use.

It features a high quality solid steel frame with aluminium cross members and as such it has enough weight to carry all but the heaviest of headphones.

Marrying a gorgeous sounding tube pre-amp with solid-state amplification has been a technique for achieving unequaled sound quality in hi-end component audio since the advent of the transistor. While kicking around ideas for a new headphone amp Music Hall thought, why not try this same technique in a single component? They built one up and were blown away by the increased detail, clarity, and presence the design offered. The tube hybrid headphone amp was born! Hand assembled using the highest quality parts available the Music Hall ph25.2 will have you singing along with your favorite artists.
If anything of the legendary beyerdynamic DT 880 could have been improved, it has been realized with this version. This premium headphone combines the strengths of open and closed headphones. The complete sound spectrum is reproduced in detail from the deepest sub bass to the highest highs. This semi-open, dynamic headphone is also manufactured in Germany.

Made in Germany from a single piece of wood, steam-molded then coated with clear matte lacquer, the Sieveking Omega stand is built to last.  Unlike painted or glossy stands which need constant cleaning to preserve their appearance, the Omega’s soft lacquer finish will look great year after year.  To keep the Omega’s safe during transportation or when they’re not being used, SVS includes a pouch of ultra-soft undyed flannel which can also be used to cover the stand and headphones, protecting them from light and dust.

The TEAC HA-501 is a fully analog, dual monaural headphone amplifier with elegance. The Class-A amplifier delivers superior sound quality encased in a rugged but compact design, achieving a remarkable 1,400mW output power per channel at 32 ohms impedance. The device delivers not only enough power to drive standard headphones with an impedance range from 80 to 250 ohms, but also high-class 600 ohms hi-fi headphones.

In order to eliminate interference between the left and right channels, each channel was designed individually and arranged with separate op-amp chip sets, with selectable damping factor for proper matching of headphone impedance.

The Bowers and Wilkins P3 combines pristine audio performance with maximum wearability. These slimline headphones fit lightly and snugly on your head, and fold up to stow away in your pocket or their own hard-shell carry case. And they produce a remarkably natural, detailed sound on the move, thanks to some major technological innovations that reduce distortion to a minimum.

Drive units have been designed from the ground up to give the best possible sound from a small set of headphones. We’ve repositioned the terminals to make sure that airflow around the drive units is uniform, resulting in a more linear movement. And we’ve introduced a unique damping system that provides the optimum balance of stiffness and flexibility.

The cable comes with a remote/microphone attachment, so it works seamlessly with your iPhone. And because the cable is so easy to detach and swap, P3 is also compatible with all other mobile phones and MP3 players.

Grado has taken all their knowledge and years of experience in controlling resonances and eliminating distortions and this has culminated in the development of their finest headphone ever, the PS1000.

This hybrid design has an inner sleeve of a selected species of hand-crafted mahogany made by using an intricate curing process. Its outer housing of metal machined from a special non-resonant, very hard metal alloy utilizes a special processing and casting method to increase the porosity of the alloy. This combination of wood and metal insures that the earphone chamber has no "ringing" which might obscure detail or add coloration.

The PS1000 also utilizes a newly re-configured voice coil and diaphragm design, resulting in unsurpassed speed and accuracy response. The cushion design creates the correct balance between the driver and hybrid housing to give the resulting musicality desired, and makes the PS1000 one of the most comfortable to wear headphones in the world.

The Rega Ear utilises the highest quality components and our engineers experience to achieve the best sonic performance. Utilising the design ideals of the ‘cascaded emitter follower output stage’ with a pair of complementary Darlington output transistors, along with Polyester film and Nichicon FG capacitors in critical positions ensures it is our most advanced performing headphone amplifier to date.

With the beyerdynamic T 70, the unique Tesla technology now steps into the world of premium headphones. The fully metal sound transducers with powerful neodymium annular magnet ensure maximum performance and high fidelity. The closed design efficiently eliminates ambient noise. Even at a low volume the finest details can clearly be heard: controlled, analytical and balanced from ultra-deep bass to crystal-clear highs.

The elaborate three-layer paint and the skin-friendly headband and ear pads made of micro velours emphasize the precious appearance of these headphones – Made in Germany.

World-class audio engineer Jim Fosgate is the vision and expertise behind the Fosgate Signature Tube Headphone Amplifier. The Fosgate Signature embodies unique and patented circuit topologies, elevating the headphone listening experience. Through this painstaking and thorough approach, a headphone amplifier design evolved which satisfied the exacting standards of Jim Fosgate.

The amplifier's elegant circuit has the tube amplifiers, buffers, bass EQ, and surround processing configured in a single stage. Negative feedback is applied around this stage in a single loop. Output offset is controlled with DC servos, allowing the video buffers to directly drive the headphones with no output capacitors in the signal path. There is only one coupling capacitor per channel in the signal path, and it is enclosed within the feedback loop, thus capacitor colorations are eliminated. Distortion and noise are below the threshold of hearing. The bandwidth is very wide allowing audio signals to pass through without colorations.

The Creek OBH-11 is a miniature audio amplifier, designed specifically to drive a single pair of low to medium impedance (30 Ohm -300 Ohm) headphones from a line level source.
The OBH-11 is compatible with any source at line level. For example: an average output level CD player can be connected directly to the input of the OBH-11, just as it could also be used in conjunction with a stand-alone pre-amplifier or integrated amplifier which doesn't have a headphone output.
Creek has re-engineered the casework of the old OBH 11, so the front panel is now much thicker and has rounded corners, new style graphics and the metal logo found on the more expensive Creek products. It is ONLY available in black and is an addition to Creek’s range of popular headphone amplifiers.
