"Ideally Equipped for Enjoyable Music Listening" Audiophiles all over the world love the sound of vacuum tubes. That's why the German manufacturer Vincent Audio puts tubes in as many of its products as possible.

The main trouble with tubes, however, is that big high-output power tubes can fail when they are stressed. That's why Vincent Audio has created a special class of amplifiers called "hybrids." They use vacuum tubes where they do the most good – in the preamp stages – and solid state devices for power output to the speakers. Many audiophiles around the world have found this combination of vacuum tube and solid state to be a marriage made in heaven.

Vincent Audio's smart audio engineering doesn't stop with the vacuum tubes. Vincent's German engineering team has invested thousands of hours to design extremely robust power supplies. The amp's power supply is critical to its performance. For one thing, an extremely reliable power supply means the amp will operate at peak efficiency for many years without failing.  A second reason is the bass response. Most less expensive amps can't delivery great bass simply because they have weak power supplies. Vincent's amps, however, are famous for powerful, deep, and plentiful bass – even at low volume levels. A trick? No, it's all about science and engineering. Vincent invests in good circuit design, including a large power transformer, high-grade filter caps, and more. Pick up the amp and you'll find it's pretty hefty. Plug it in and listen. You'll be amazed at the rock solid foundation you hear on all type of music.

The Vincent SV-500 is a full featured stereo integrated amp offering six inputs – four analog and two digital. The digital inputs connect to a DAC that is specially built for excellent sound with CD players.  Great features include independent bass and treble controls, front panel headphone jack, mute, and infrared remote control. The metal remote is one of the best we've seen. It has a solid feel, slim profile, and just the right buttons, but none of the extra buttons you'll never use. The rear panel features excellent five-way speaker binding posts and both record and preamp outputs just in case you want to use the SV-500 as a stand-alone tube preamp with an external amp.

Similar Circuit to its Big Brother, the Vincent SV-237...

At the heart of the SV-500 is a circuit that's very similar to Vincent's big brother integrated, the popular SV-237. This German-designed circuit has three user-replaceable vacuum tubes, two 6N1s and one 12AX7B, for the warm, rich sound of vacuum tubes. The tubes are conservatively biased for long life. The factory states the expected tube life of ten years. However, we suspect they'll last far longer.  Conservatively rated at 50WRMS into 8 ohms, we find the SV-500 seems to deliver far more power than advertised thanks to its robust power supply. From its ease with all kinds of musical material, you'll swear you're listening to a much larger amp.

Vincent's SA-31 preamp has been a mainstay in the company's portfolio of hybrid preamps for a long time....

In fact, it was only Vincent's second preamp and was launched in 1996 and replaced the LS-1. Its longevity is a testament to its uncompromising performance. The SA-32 is a multi-purpose and robust stereo preamplifier that does the Vincent name proud. The basic design of the SA-32 is similar to its predecessor, the SA-31. Because Vincent added some new features to the preamp, while completely overhauling and improved its circuits, it was necessary to enlarge the casework.  In comparison to its predecessor, the SA-32 uses four 6N16 tubes instead of only two. The first two tubes are placed at the input section. Two more tubes sit in front of the output after the tone control. Consequently, the overall sonic signature is more natural sounding and precise and with better dynamics and added musicality.  In addition to the RCA inputs and outputs used by the SA-31, the SA-32 includes balanced XLR connection terminals. A high-quality XLR cable (length 1.0M) is included. Vincent also provides a beautifully made remote control with an aluminum case that feels good in the hand.  The loudness function of the SA-31 has been replaced by a gain decrease. Therefore, pressing the front panel switch decreases preamp gain by 8 dB. This allows you to connect power amps with a higher amplification factor to the preamp without any difficulties.

Superb and Significant Separate-Chassis Power Supply

Don't look for a puny 'wall-wart' power supply on the PHO-300. Instead of including a standard wall adapter or incorporating an underpowered AC supply under the hood, the German-based audiophile company went all the way with a superb sonic solution.  As with its big brothers, the PHO-701 and PHO-500, the PHO-300 uses an elaborately designed external power supply housed in a separate chassis for a no-compromise approach to sound quality. Feeling is believing. The power unit weighs around three pounds and has impressive heft when held in the hand.  This 'separates' approach to power supply and audio circuitry has the advantages of keeping negative effects from your household supply from interfering with your music. Thanks to a massive transformer and superior power regulation, AC power line ripples and interference are completely eliminated. Inside the SP-332 are 6N16 tubes working in differential push-pull design in the input stage, giving the sound the classic warmth and richness that you can only achieve through the use of vacuum tubes. The solid state output stage is powered by eight formidable FET transistors for the final amplification. These transistors provide 150 watt-per-channel at 8 ohms and will effortlessly drive even the most demanding loudspeakers.  In the power supply, a 500W toroidal transformer provides the muscle required for power on demand with 80,000 µF.
