• Shield your home audio components from noise
 • Power surge protection
 • Provide clean, consistent power to your home audio system

At the heart of the MPC1500 is a large but quiet toroidal isolation transformer that has been specially wound to act as a low pass filter to remove unwanted noise from the AC line. The MPC1500 also employs a quick-acting surge suppression module that activates when the voltage reaches approximately 2V above nominal operating levels. This excess voltage is slowly and harmlessly released to the circuit’s neutral wire rather than the ground wire, where it could still find its way to your audio components and cause damage. Unlike surge protection devices that use other suppression methods or “power conditioners,” the MPC1500’s suppression module is not sacrificial and will not need replacing after a surge event.

The MPC1500 comes with either 6 medical grade Type B (a.k.a. NEMA 5-15R) duplex receptacles, or 6 high quality Type F (a.k.a. CEE 7/3 or “Schuko”) single receptacles. Only the appropriate version is available in each individual country to ensure compatibility with local power systems. Two of the receptacles are always active when the MPC1500 is plugged in. Control of the other 4 receptacles can be configured to your preferences via the rear panel Power Control switches. LED indicators on both the front and back show the current in-use state of each receptacle.

Our blue Watt meters have been repurposed to show the real time incoming voltage and the actual current draw of the connected devices. The meters will be scaled to the correct amperage and voltage based on the local country (e.g. the voltage meter will be scaled to 250 for countries that use the Type F receptacle). Regardless if the unit has Type B or Type F receptacles, all versions of the MPC1500 feature the timeless McIntosh black glass front panel with blue meters, an illuminated logo, control knobs, and aluminum end caps.

Features:
Today’s AC power is littered with byproduct from the operation of millions of personal computers, satellite set-top boxes and myriad other noise inducing devices. The new MPC1500 Power Controller provides total isolation, low noise, and maximum power transfer to enable the best performance possible from your McIntosh components. The MPC1500 features a large torroidal transformer that has been specially wound to act as a low pass filter to remove unwanted harmonic noise on the incoming AC line, while a quick-acting surge suppression circuit features a clamping voltage onset of about 2V above peak nominal voltage for the best possible product protection.

Toroidal Isolation Power Transformer

The very large Toroidal Isolation Power Transformer used in the MPC1500 occupies over three quarters of the internal space in the chassis. It ensures stable noise free operation for the audio/video components connected to the MPC1500. It also isolates them from potential interference produced from common household appliances that utilize motors, compressors and electronic control devices.

Stable Voltage

The MPC1500’s Large Isolation Power Transformer minimizes variations in the voltage available to the connected components as they draw more current, up to the Amp rating on the Rear Panel.

Lono Technology

The LONOTM (Low Noise) Transformer Technology from Plitron used in the MPC1500, eliminates audible noise emanating from the Transformer and thus will not distract from musical enjoyment, even with varying AC Line conditions.

Superior Line Surge Protection

The McIntosh MPC1500 utilizes the finest, most sophisticated surge suppression technology available. Unlike most of the AC Line Surge protection devices available, the MPC1500 doesn’t rely on commonly used inexpensive MOV devices. The MOV’s can fail after just one surge thus no longer providing protection and they can allow as much as 3 times the line voltage through to the connected components allowing substantial damage to occur. The MPC1500 incorporates TorusTM Surge Suppression Circuitry, which activates around 2V above peak nominal voltage providing constant long term protection.

Illuminated Voltage And Current Meters

The Illuminated Voltage and Current Meters indicate at all times the voltage available to your McIntosh Components and the actual current consumed by them.

Power Control

The Power Control Input connection provides convenient Turn-On/Off of the McIntosh MPC1500 with your McIntosh System.

Extruded Side Panels

The sides of the MPC1500 are extruded aluminum panels with a bead blast textured surface and a black anodized finish.

Fiber Optic Solid State Front Panel Illumination

The even Illumination of the Front Panel is accomplished by the combination of custom designed Fiber Optic Light Diffusers and extra long life Light Emitting Diodes (LED's).
