By introducing an inordinate number of new materials, particularly the completely redesigned drive stage and power supply section, the M1X’s New signature sound provides music with an extra dimension.

The all-new drive stage has been expanded in size by 150%, from 6 to 12 parallels, while boasting an astonishing power linearity from 300W/8Ω to 2,400W/1Ω*. It delivers sufficient current in a perfect correspondence with the change of load level, effectively meaning you won’t need to concern yourself over what speakers you can use. Everything about the M1X is done on an extraordinary scale. The M1X’s incredible power is supported by Esoteric’s largest-ever power supply, which occupies the space of approximately 60% of the unit’s internal components. The 3,000VA/19kg main power transformer has been further refined in terms of rectification capability by implementing heavier winding gauge. In addition, high-capacity Esoteric custom capacitors with a total capacity of 60,000μF have been adopted to refine the amplifier’s signature high-quality tone.

Even at the climax of a full orchestra, the M1X will draw forward even the most nuanced detail from every instrument with its key feature high resolution capability. Incorporating a dedicated power supply unit for the pre-drive stage (voltage amplification stage) that handles extremely low-level signals from the preamp, the M1X eliminates the influence of the drive stage with its large current fluctuations and improves resolution.

Considering its massive appearance, you may be interested to learn that the circuitry of the M1X is surprisingly simple. The crystal-clean sonic signature of the M1X is composed of a product of advanced engineering known as, “Aesthetics of subtraction”.

For example, all 24 transistors on the drive stage are controlled to be the same temperature for total balance and stability, and the phase compensation circuit employs a simple single-pole configuration, which also allows the final stage to be coil-less. With its minimalist circuitry philosophy, it maintains the harmonics (overtones) that are most important to music, but are often easily lost, and draws them out with rich expression.

While the M1X’s circuitry is minimalist, the components are among the largest. Its extra thick copper clad printed circuit boards, the huge bus bars used in the drive stage, and the ultra-heavy gauge cables with secure, lossless bolt on connector system, are reminiscent of a huge aircraft engine. By reducing the internal impedance and by gripping even a large diameter woofer with authority, its driving force reaches the limit of the low frequency range with ease.

The M1X not only delivers the dynamism of high power, but also renders the gradation between climax and silence with amazing subtlety. A newly designed balanced input stage amplifier that is independently settled on each input, receives the signal and transmits it to the amplification stage in a balanced configuration to ensure noiselessness. Carefully selected components such as IDM-01 (Integrated Discrete-Amplifier Module) originally developed for the C1X preamp, and FET switches used in input selector, further enhances the micro detail of the music.

The M1X’s chassis optimally controls any vibrations that may affect the sound quality to achieve the absolute design goal of “Master Sound Reproduction”. Like a Formula One race car, its sleek and clean appearance with mechanical engineering that pushes the limits of the balance between rigidity and flexibility, is a testament to its high level of perfection.

The most eye-catching feature of the M1X exterior, the top panel's "Dual Honeycomb Grille" symbolizes the evolution from the preceding M1 to the M1X. The honeycomb-shaped opening was adopted to maximize the efficiency of the internal heat exchange and to reduce the top panel weight as much as possible to enhance sound openness. By stacking two grills of different thicknesses with offset hole-positioning, vibrations are also dispersed efficiently in pursuit of a pure tone.

To ensure resonance-free operation, the M1X employs the extensive use of aluminum blocks on the body enclosures. For example, the front panel is machined from a 35mm-thick aluminum block, while the top panel, on the other hand, which needs to be free of vibration for an open sound, has a semi-floating structure, and the isolated feet have their own special structure that reduces mechanical stress and enhances sound quality.

Ultra Fidelity Attenuator System Newly developed "Ultra Fidelity Attenuator System”

Concept There are two main methods of volume employed in preamplifiers. The "fixed-resistor switching attenuator circuit," which switches multiple fixed resistors to adjust the volume, is an ideal method for a preamplifier that pursues sound quality because of highly reliability at the contact points and bringing out pure and direct sound quality. However, since the volume is defined by switching resistors, the circuit scale becomes too large for smooth volume adjustment. In contrast, another method employing a volume pot (carbon resistor), the "variable resistance volume circuit," allows smooth, step-less volume adjustment. However, the signal path is longer, and the potential of deterioration of crosstalk between the left and right channels and deterioration of contact points exists due to aging. The newly developed “Ultra Fidelity Attenuator System” is the fruit of our pursuit of an ideal attenuator circuit that realizes preferred volume level in outstanding precision as if "variable resistance volume circuit”, while maintaining the excellent sound quality of the "fixed resistance switching type attenuator circuit".

Grandioso C1X solo Attenuator module "UFA-1792" The core of the Ultra Fidelity Attenuator System is the UFA-1792, an original module that integrates a fixed-resistance switching attenuator into an integrated circuit. The internal fixed resistance can be switched in 0.1dB/1,120 steps, which means that the volume can be adjusted in astonishingly fine, nearly infinite steps, compared to a typical attenuator module which offers about 0.5dB/100 steps. In addition, as an original module, everything from materials, layout and internal circuit patterns has been uncompromisingly scrutinized to achieve the resolution and tone quality befitting a top-of-the-line preamplifier.  Amplifier module "IDM-01" The heart of the preamplifier's amplification circuit is the original module "Integrated Discrete-Amplifier Module IDM-01". Carefully selected materials, circuit patterns, and layout, thoroughly implement the ESOTERIC's sound philosophy, just like a discrete amplifier, and the extremely short signal path which is the beauty of integrated circuits, allows dynamic and delicate amplification of musical vibrancy. The Grandioso C1X solo is configured with a dual balanced preamplifier circuit that employs four Ultra Fidelity Attenuator System per channel. All input signals are balanced and internally transmitted with low impedance to minimize noise effects, while the dual balanced configuration employing the best module technology is completely free from gang errors and crosstalk; noiseless, powerful, and above all, and firmly transmits the vibrancy of music to the power amplifier.

Ultimate Driving Power - (Powerful power amplifier drive capability)

Parallel-drive ESOTERIC-HCLD for driving power amplifier Many audiophiles have experienced the sound of speakers that were previously unplayable when the preamplifier was changed. Audibly, the preamplifier has a great influence on the drive power of the system, and a good preamplifier will make the speakers sound great. The Grandioso C1X solo maximizes the driving power of the power amplifiers by applying the largest possible amount of material to the output buffer amplifiers. The output buffer amplifier employs the ESOTERIC-HCLD (High Current Line Driver), which is renowned for its excellent drive capability and 180MHz wide range, and boasts an astonishingly high-speed slew rate of 2,000V/μs. This powerful buffer amplifier is installed in a parallel configuration for a single signal line, while the output buffer amplifier has an independent power supply section, – with two dedicated large toroidal power transformers in independent left and right configurations. The C1X solo's output buffer amplifier, which boasts the powerful current output capability befitting a flagship, fully powers the power amplifier and the speakers beyond it, conveying to the audience an unprecedented level of vibrancy.  Powerful power supply section ESOTERIC believes that 70% of the sound quality of a preamplifier is determined by the design of the power supply section. The C1X solo consists of a total of five main components: left and right input/output amplifiers and a control section. All five of these are powerfully driven by five independent power transformers for each section (audio system: toroidal core, control system: R core). By separating the power supply for each section and investing far more power supply capacity than intrinsically required, mutual interference between circuit blocks is fundamentally eliminated, resulting in extremely pure and dynamic sound quality. In addition, carefully selected parts appropriate for a flagship model, such as the high-capacity Grandioso custom block capacitors and Schottky barrier diodes, are employed in pursuit of high sound quality.

The input amplifier section, as well as the output amplifier section, is configured with complete dual mono/dual balanced circuits with independent left and right power transformers and rectifier circuits. Input signals are transmitted without loss by using ESOTERIC-HCLD buffer amplifiers for signal transfer from the input amplifier to the output amplifier. For the input switching, a switch with an FET element is employed instead of the conventional mechanical relay system. The FET element, which allows 12A instantaneous current and 3A constant current, minimizes current loss and eliminates the effects on tone quality caused by rare metals at the contact points, operation noise, and deterioration of sound quality over time, which were unavoidable with conventional mechanical relays, to achieve the pure, transparent tone required in a preamplifier.

The logic control section, which controls operation and display, is shielded and housed in the front panel, isolated from the amplifier module. A photo-coupler that converts the control signal to light for transmission is employed for connection to the preamplifier section to ensure physical and electrical isolation. Furthermore, by completely shutting down the control circuitry except during operation, low-noise operation is achieved without affecting the circuitry that handles the audio signal. When the system is turned off, the volume setting is automatically lowered to zero, and after the power is turned on, the volume setting is automatically restored to the original level, eliminating the need for volume operation when the power is turned on or off. The system also features a fade-out/fade-in of the input signal when the input source is switched to another, which is high-class operability with full of elegance and the pleasure to use that we aimed for.

To achieve the unique design goal of "reproducing the master sound," the C1X solo chassis optimally controls all vibrations that can affect sound quality. The sleek and clean form of this sports car-like mechanical engineering, to pushes the limits of its balance between rigidity and flexibility, and speaks to its high degree of perfection. For example, the enclosure, which requires rigidity, makes extensive use of aluminum blocks and is thoroughly non-resonant, while the top panel, which needs to be free of vibration for an open sound, has a semi-floating structure. ESOTERIC's unique patented isolation foot, which integrates a spike and a saucer, also has a special mounting structure that reduces mechanical stress and enhances sound quality.  High-quality feeling that satisfies the pleasure of operation The volume control and input selector employ solid construction knobs machined from an aluminum block. By adopting a bearing mechanism developed in the design of VRDS drive mechanisms for the rotary axis, extremely precise rotation without core shake is achieved. By adjusting the rotational torque to the optimum level, a smooth, analog-feeling operation is achieved, befitting ESOTERIC's flagship preamplifier.

A compact and simple remote control is included that can also operate ESOTERIC digital source devices. With the birth of the Grandioso M1X, our flagship monoblock power amplifier, the ESOTERIC amplifier design platform has been completely revamped. The Grandioso S1 has now been reborn as the Grandioso S1X, the new flagship in a completely different class of Class-A stereo power amplifiers. The monoblock M1X embodies ESOTERIC's idea of the ideal amplifier. The dynamic sound of the M1X, produced by a completely redesigned drive stage and a powerful power supply unit that incorporates an enormous amount of material, has captivated audiophiles around the world. The S1X, a Class-A stereo model, beautifully follows the M1X's signature sound of "a sense of dynamism that unleashes the full power of music" and "a sense of grand scale." In exchange for its high power of 2,400W/1 ohm, the S1X offers a half the space form factor and the transparent and detailed expressiveness that only Class-A can deliver. The newly designed drive stage, a simple 5-parallel push-pull drive with high-capacity bipolar transistors, is Class-A (operating range 50W/8Ω) and has a dense and transparent sound. However, the general characteristics of Class-A, – low distortion and high precision – cannot describe the beauty of the S1X at all. Vivid colors like a direct-heating triode amplifier, high-speed sound start-up backed by ample idling current, and driving power, openness... The S1X's new Class-A drive stage inherits the powerful and dynamic design concept of the M1X, including high-capacity bipolar elements with powerful tones and a powerful power supply section. Regardless of the amplification method, the S1X earnestly pursues what an amplifier should be and achieves a sound quality that is the total sum of ESOTERIC's commitment.

With the flagship Grandioso separate amplifier, ESOTERIC is breaking new horizons by pushing the limits of fidelity in pre-power transmission. ES-LINK Analog, for example, ESOTERIC’s unique current transmission method, is ideal for pre-power transmission, where the signal level is extremely low in actual case, and transmits approximately 100 times more current than conventional voltage transmission. Therefore, it is less susceptible to noise, and all the energy of the music is sent from the preamplifier to the power. In addition, the output signal from the preamplifier and the input signal to the power amplifier can be kept extremely identical because, in principle, they are not affected by the impedance of the connecting cables.

Robust driving power worthy of a flagship. The source of this power is ESOTERIC's dedicated power supply unit. For amplifier blocks that constantly require high current for Class-A operation, the power supply is the most key component to achieve a powerful and rich sound stage. Thanks to ESOTERIC's unique power supply design, the S1X boasts an extremely dynamic musical expression with great precision.  Over-sized bare-mount power transformers The S1X employs the largest capacity toroidal transformers that the S1X chassis can accommodate. The transformers performance, with a much larger capacity than the original product, allows for extremely high follow-through to dynamic changes in current supply, resulting in a dynamic and open sound. Also, suppressing transformer vibration results in suppressing current flow. For this reason, the S1X dares to employ a bare mounting with the case removed.

Power transformer dedicated to the pre-drive stage The S1X's high resolution sound is also a major feature, allowing the delicate tones of each instrument to be heard clearly, even at the climax of a full orchestra performance. A power supply section dedicated to the pre-drive stage (voltage amplification stage), which handles low-level signals from the preamplifier, eliminates the influence of the drive stage, which has large current fluctuations, and improves resolution. In addition to the two power transformers for the drive and pre-drive stages, an R-core power transformer for control is installed in a three-transformer configuration to create a pure power supply with thoroughly low noise.   Power rectification circuit in dual mono configuration Unless it is a monaural source, the left and right music signals are different. The power rectification circuits are designed in dual mono configuration, not shared by both channels, to avoid mutual interference and achieve clear channel separation and resolution.  Multiple block capacitors in parallel The rectification system also incorporates Grandioso's unique and thorough attention to detail. The Grandioso High Quality Sound Custom Capacitors are employed for the block capacitors, while the dual mono and parallel configuration of 6 x 10,000μF per channel ensures the high current supply required for Class-A operation at all times. Therefore, the S1X follows the dramatic changes in musical signals with agility and express dynamism to the fullest extent.  Low impedance design Key wiring sections such as from the primary side to the power supply section, drive stage, etc. employ over-sized pure copper busbars and ultra-thick gauge cables with bolted connections. The response of the power supply is maximized by ensuring a low impedance.

Considering its massive appearance, this may seem a little surprising. However, the signal paths in the S1X are designed to be as short as possible, and the circuit is surprisingly simple. The clear sound quality is supported by the "subtractive aesthetics," so to speak, created by the crystallization of advanced engineering. In general, a Class-A amplifiers generate a lot of heat, and internal temperature stability is extremely important. For this reason, the S1X optimizes the position and circuitry of the temperature compensation circuit to stabilize the temperature of the entire amplifier block. This contributes to high quality sound because it speeds up the stabilization of the idling current after power-on and allows the amplifier elements to operate with their best characteristics. The phase compensation circuit is a simple 1-pole configuration, and the final stage is coil-less, while the NFB (negative feedback) is kept to a minimum to enhance the dynamism of the music. The minimalist circuit philosophy allows the harmonics (overtones) that are most important to music, but are easily lost, to be retained and rendered expressively.    Depth Despite the simplicity of the circuit, the S1X has been designed to eliminate any compromise in the quality of reproduction by using a dual monaural configuration from the input stage to the final stage, with the input stage being the most important stage. The components are among the largest in their class, and the board pattern, which employs a 105µm thick copper foil in key components, and ultra-thick gauge cables with connector connections eliminated as much as possible, are full of the boldness and power that is typical of power amplifiers. Particularly, the seven busbars in the drive stage are made of luxurious 1.0 mm thick high-purity OFC material, and MOS FET switches without mechanical contacts are employed in the speaker output stage. The reduction in internal impedance provides a powerful grip even on woofers with larger diameters, and the driving force reaches the low-frequency limit point with ease.  Texture The S1X is not only a powerful unit, but one that also delicately creates a gradation between climax and silence. The audio signal is received by a newly designed balanced amplifier independent of each input stage and transmitted to the amplification stage in a balanced manner to ensure noise-free and stable amplification. FET switches are also employed for all switching positions in the audio signal path, including input switching, to minimize tonal coloration. Carefully selected high-quality components, such as the IDM-01 (Integrated Discrete-Amplifier Module) developed for the previous C1X, accentuate the texture of the tones.  Versatility The Grandioso S1X behaves not only as a stand-alone stereo power amplifier, but also offers flexibly in a variety of high-end-worthy applications. The system is expandable to a mono-block amplifier by deploying two S1Xs, depending on the speakers to be combined and the operating environment. A Mode selector supports conventional stereo mode and bi-amp mode for high-quality sound of multi-way speakers with separate HF/LF inputs. To achieve the unique design goal of "reproducing the master sound," the S1X chassis optimally controls all vibrations that can affect sound quality. The sleek and clean form of this sports car-like mechanical engineering, pushes the limits of its balance between rigidity and flexibility, and speaks to its high degree of perfection. For example, the enclosure, which requires rigidity, makes extensive use of aluminum blocks and is thoroughly non-resonant. On the other hand, the top panel, which needs to be free of vibration for an open sound, has a semi-floating structure. ESOTERIC's unique patented isolation foot, which integrates a spike and a saucer, also has a special structure that reduces mechanical stress and enhances sound quality. In addition, the large heat sinks of the amplifier block have a special wave shape that disperses the peak resonance of the fins and suppresses resonance.  Dual Honeycomb Grille The most striking feature of the S1X's exterior is the "dual honeycomb grille" at the top. A honeycomb-shaped opening is employed to improve heat removal, and a light-weight top panel is pursued to the last possible degree to enhance the sense of sound release. By overlapping two grills of different thicknesses, vibrations are also efficiently dispersed in pursuit of a pure tone. In addition, the layout of the top panel opening is completed with a design that achieves both an elegant appearance and a high degree of heat removal performance to control the Class-A heat output.

The one design feature of these amplifiers that most clearly reflects Grandioso thinking is their dual monaural configuration, which maintains complete left and right channel independence through all stages, from preamplifier to the power amplifier's final stage. As Esoteric integrated amplifiers, the major investments made in circuit construction expertise and materials developed over the years yield excellent channel separation and a measure of sound quality that transcends the class.

Playing a significant role in the F Series' balanced dual monaural configuration is the proprietary Quad Volume Control System (QVCS), which incorporates a total of four precision switched resistor ladder networks operating in unison to electronically and independently control the left and right channels and their positive and negative phases. This system helps maintain superb audio clarity, excellent channel separation and highly accurate phase characteristics. Further, by eliminating all volume control wiring on the audio board, the resulting shorter signal path minimizes deterioration of sound quality while realizing exceptionally low distortion.

As a countermeasure against noise, all control lines have been electronically separated from the main body of the preamplifier with the use of isolator elements integrated into the front panel.

High-Precision Ball Bearing Control Knobs

Employing the same high-precision bearing mechanisms used in our Grandioso components, the F Series' volume control knobs and selector switches provide exceptionally smooth operation with an analog feel free of any mechanical play. Sparing no cost, all panel knobs are also custom-machined from solid aluminum.

Commitment to achieving all the quality associated with high-end components results in a balanced dual monaural configuration consisting of four circuits (L/R, -/+) for each band. This system enables users to adjust tone settings free of any concerns about sound quality deterioration. Shifting the variable band more than usual toward the high and low frequency ranges (14kHz/63Hz) permits fine adjustment of bass and treble without adversely affecting the original source signal. Fully electronic control also permits fine adjustment of up to ±12dB in 0.5dB steps. The middle band can also be utilized as a loudness preset when set to the minus side and used in conjunction with the Tone Bypass switch.

Large-Capacity Custom Power Transformer - The Nucleus of the Finest Power Amplifiers

The power supplies of the F Series feature large-core 940VA custom EI power transformers and 40,000µF block capacitors for each channel in a dual monaural configuration. Large-gauge cable is used in all connections to help minimize impedance. As in our separate power amplifiers, this outstanding power section achieves a theoretically linear power output ranging from 30W at an 8Ω load to 60W at 4Ω for faithful reproduction of every musical dynamic.

Low Impedance for Enhanced Drive Capability

Utilizing eight 1mm-thick bus bars formed of high-purity OFC, the speaker output section employs MOSFET switching with no mechanical contacts. Coils have also been eliminated from the output stage to minimize impedance and enhance drive capability.

Esoteric Balanced Phonostage Preamplifier

The E-02 inherits the philosophy that guided our highly acclaimed E-03 phonostage to be a continual best-seller for the last 8 years and adds the new fully balanced transmission and amplification circuit utilizing MC cartridges to achieve a level of analog playback that was previously unimaginable.

The E-02 is a fully balanced phonostage preamplifier that features fully balanced circuits from the input stage right through to the final output stage. It is perfectly designed for handling the extremely low level signals from a MC cartridge, minimize noise interference and powerfully amplify signals with low impedance to bring the very best sound out of your beloved MC cartridge collection.

Identical power supply transformers, power boards and amplifier circuits are mounted independently on each channel. Outstanding channel separation and robust power supply components deliver solid, powerful, and exceptionally high quality audio playback.

Super High Quality MC Head Amplifier and RIAA Amplifier

The E-02 features a newly designed fully balanced MC head amplifier and RIAA amplifier. The NF-CR type RIAA amplifier achieves outstanding RIAA characteristics of ±0.2dB together with minimum Negative Feedback, and the high voltage power supply delivers an exceptionally wide dynamic headroom.

Simply playback a record for around 30 seconds with the DEMAG function switched on to demagnetize any unexpected magnetization of the cartridge's coils or step-up transformers and recover the original sound. The E-02 is equipped with a sub-sonic filter (17Hz, -6dB/octave), a MONO switch and output switching (XLR, RCA, ES-LINK Analog) controls.

Phonostage amplifiers that amplify extremely low signal levels are highly sensitive to vibration, which is why ESOTERIC pays special attention to chassis construction in order to control vibration wherever possible. The arrangement of each component is designed in minute detail, and a slit construction is used in the bottom chassis that supports all of the circuits to minimize interference. The highly rigid thick aluminum enclosure and proprietary pinpoint feet (patent no. JP4075477) are extremely effective in minimizing the effects of vibration from external sources.

The E-02 employs the same buffer amplifier technology as our flagship Grandioso C1 preamplifier, which features a high current output capability and an exceptionally high slew rate of 2,000V/μs. Each channel is equipped with two buffer amplifiers which drive the hot and cold signals separately when the system is in XLR output mode. When switched to RCA output mode, however, the amplifiers work in parallel to maximize the output linearity. This design achieves super-fast current output, resulting in breathtaking super-dynamic sound.

The E-02 is compatible with ESOTERIC's unique ES-LINK Analog current transmission in addition to regular XLR and RCA outputs. ES-LINK Analog is a current transmission method that fully utilizes the high speed and powerful capabilities of the HCLD circuit to fully maximize the potential of compatible devices.

Three Types of Input Including XLR Balanced Input

The E-02 is equipped with one XLR (MC dedicated) input and two RCA inputs, with the RCA inputs also featuring fully balanced transmission throughout all stages after the input amplifier. Cartridge impedance, filter ON/OFF and MONO switch ON/OFF settings can be configured as presets for each input, and switched easily using the large dial control on the front panel.

Load Impedance Switching Function that Exploits the Full Potential of the Cartridge

The E-02 enables you to select between nine different impedance positions (MC: 10Ω, 50Ω, 100Ω, 200Ω, 300Ω, 500Ω, 1kΩ, 10kΩ, MM: 47kΩ).

In our uncompromising pursuit of superior sound quality, ESOTERIC uses nothing but the highest grade components including custom-designed power supply capacitors and machined gold-plated RCA terminals. The two large selector knobs on the front panel feature a ball-bearing structure based on the VRDS drive mechanism, providing a beautifully smooth analog feel without any wobble. In the world of preamplifiers there exists two fundamental types of volume control. What are known as “fixed resistance switching attenuator circuits” are capable of bringing out some of the purest, most direct sound. This outstanding circuit delivers the best sound for preamplifiers designed to pursue the ultimate in sound quality. However, since volume is determined by switching resistors, in order to achieve a smoother, virtually stepless volume control, the size and scale of the circuit would have to become so large that it couldn’t realistically be installed in a stereo sound component. On the other hand, so-called “variable resistance volume circuits” make possible smooth, stepless volume adjustments. However, wiring distances can be long, and inevitable crosstalk between channels and wear on the switching contacts tend to cause deterioration of sound quality over time. Its proprietary UFA-1792 attenuator module realizes an attenuator circuit that achieves virtually stepless volume adjustment in incredible 0.1dB intervals.

Precision Volume Control at Your Fingertips...

The C1X’s new Ultra Fidelity Attenuator System takes Esoteric’s signature Dual Mono Full Balance circuit to a whole new level, achieving an astoundingly precise 1,120 steps at 0.1dB intervals, which vastly exceeds the 100 steps at 0.5dB per step offered by the original Grandioso C1. Our long-established Esoteric-QVCS quad circuit has undergone a complete renewal, providing an ultra high-fidelity attenuator system delivering remarkably fine accuracy volume control as well as excellent audio signal channel separation and polarity. The new C1X brings the Grandioso series even closer to the ideal of Master Sound Works, accurately reproducing all the musical information recorded in the original master – an ideal that Esoteric amplifiers have advocated for since their inception.

The Heart of the System That Gives Life to Sound...

Newly developed as a modular unit that can be used in both output and input amplifiers, Esoteric’s new IDM-01 Integrated Discrete Amplifier Module combines the advantages of a discrete configuration, which permits free selection of the individual parts that make up the circuit, and a modular form that can be assembled into a circuit having the smallest footprint possible. This new amplifier module will soon take its place as the heart of all future Esoteric amplifiers, delivering a dynamic yet delicate Esoteric sound.

Greatly Enhanced Drive Capability With ES-LINK Analog Output...

The C1X’s two independent ES-LINK Analog outputs and two XLR outputs are powerfully driven by parallel Esoteric-HCLD buffer amplifiers that deliver up a remarkable slew rate of 2,000V/μs. This powerful drive can be connected to multiple power amplifiers, making it possible to confidently assemble a bi-amplified or multi-amplified system. * Optional conversion from the ES-LINK Analog outputs to RCA outputs is available.  Additionally, the C1X’s regulated power supply features an EDLC Super Capacitor array installed in close proximity to the output buffer circuit to enable both instantaneous bursts of high power and unwavering low frequencies. Together, this conveys music’s full dynamism from the preamplifier to the power amplifier, and reproduces the source sound with breathtaking realism.

Authentic Design – Two-Chassis Configuration Features Separate Control Unit and Power Supply ...

A stirring sensation of dynamism rises from the Grandioso C1X’s clear and transparent sound field. Esoteric’s new flagship model inherits a proven two-chassis configuration, with the main control unit and power supply created as totally separate components. By effectively isolating the power supply unit, which can be a source of vibration and noise, the C1X gives music an unprecedented level of quiet dynamism.

Two-Chassis Amplifier and Power Supply Configuration...

To achieve both the Grandioso C1X’s transparent sound field and its overall sense of dynamism, a separate two-chassis structure was selected as a means of physically separating the amplifier section from its power supply. The linear power supply unit is installed in a separate housing that weighs fully 29kg. This enables astoundingly clean amplification as the C1X transmits the full energy and dynamism of music to the power amplifiers while providing effortless control over the entire system.

FET Elements Provide Instantaneous Current of 12A...

Instead of conventional mechanical relays, the Grandioso C1X features a switching system that incorporates FET elements to steadily deliver 3A of rated current output and a full 12A of instantaneous current output at musical peaks. To achieve the purity of sound required by Esoteric’s premier flagship preamplifier, current losses have been reduced to the lowest levels possible, and the effect of rare metals on contacts, including operating noise and the deterioration of sound quality over time – often associated with mechanical relays – have been totally eliminated.

The Shortest Path to a Fully Balanced Configuration...

Esoteric takes special pride in its fully balanced dual circuit HOT and COLD configuration. Through the elimination of common mode noise and greatly reduced signal impedance, a pure signal, not easily affected by noise, is directed to the attenuator section along the shortest path possible. Additionally, the input board uses a bus bar with a copper plate located at the intersection of the signal paths. It physically straddles the signal path and suppresses musical signal crosstalk across the board. Unbalanced input signals are also balanced immediately after input, and transmitted to the attenuator circuit via the HCLD buffer amplifier for a fully balanced configuration.

Esoteric’s ES-Link Analog is a unique current transmission method that makes possible ideal analog connections by increasing current transmission to approximately 50 to 100 times that of conventional line-connected voltage transmission amplifiers. Support for Esoteric’s proprietary ES-LINK Analog current transmission input ensures minimized transmission noise and cable loss for an ideal analog connection. A pure Grandioso X edition system can be assembled with the further addition of other components equipped with ES-Link Analog outputs, such as the Grandioso K1X SACD Player and the Grandioso D1X DA Converter. Of course, all inputs can be switched individually, and conventional voltage transmission components can also be connected.

– Design Concepts Without Compromise...

Ultra Low-Noise Logic Control The logic control unit, which controls all operations as well as the display, is located behind the front panel, where it is electronically shielded in complete isolation from the amplifier modules. It is connected to the preamplifier section by way of a photocoupler that converts the control signal into light transmission that ensures complete physical and electronic isolation. Furthermore, by completely shutting down the control circuit except during moments of actual operation, the Grandioso C1X is able to realize ultra-low-noise operation with no effect on audio signal circuits.

Monoblock Configuration with Advanced Vibration Control...

The Grandioso C1X’s Monoblock configuration ensures that left and right audio channels maintain total independence by design. These totally separate audio channels extend from the preamplifier inputs through the amplification section, and even to its separate DC power supply unit with its dual AC power cables. In fact, the C1X’s Monoblock structure effectively integrates two separate monaural preamplifiers into a single set of components that can suitably be referred to an Esoteric’s flagship.

The C1X’s prominent volume control and input selector knobs are machined from high-grade billet aluminum, while their bearing systems, originally developed for the VRDS drive’s spindle shaft mechanism, ensure precise rotation with no core deviation.
