Luxman MQ-88uC - A vacuum tube power amplifier with ambition...

Since the launch of our SQ-5A vacuum tube integrated amplifier in 1961, we have continued making vacuum tube amps without a break. We have produced many models that are highly valued as signature models and satisfied music lovers are enjoying them to this day, even several decades after their release. The CL-38uC and MQ-88uC combine LUXMAN's history of producing fine vacuum tube products and the traditional wisdom and skills gained along the way.

The essence of high-end products: selected high quality components

Due to their relatively simple circuitry, vacuum tube amplifiers are greatly affected by the quality of individual components, hence we utilize LUXMAN's own high-quality transformers and blocking capacitors. Further customization comes in the form of Nichicon made, high voltage, metalized polypropylene film coupling capacitors, which have been introduced for their supple, natural tone. Improved audio quality has been realized by shortening the internal wiring.

Reviving designs from the golden era of vacuum tube amplifiers

The CL-38uC control amplifier and the MQ-88uC power amplifier are based on the latest technology and design, but the exterior styling evokes a classic image from the heyday of vacuum tube audio products. The CL-38uC is modeled on the CL-35, released in 1970, and the MQ-88uC is modeled on the MQ-60, released in 1969. A classic front panel design should be functional, but also beautiful, achieved by careful selection of knobs and lever switches. Listeners can appreciate such traditional design features, with their nostalgic flavor, whilst enjoying these contemporary, high performance audio products.

Each CL-38uC control amplifier and MQ-88uC power amplifier undergoes a final performance check after a 48 hour aging process following assembly. We have selected JJ Electronic (Slovakia) vacuum tubes for these models as they are renowned for their reliability, long life and the ease with which they operate at vacuum tube amplifier voltages and heat dissipation conditions.

The KT-88 output tubes used in the MQ-88uC, made by JJ Electronic, are known for their power and rich sound quality. The triode configuration employed achieves longer vacuum tube life and a highly transparent timbre that vacuum tube amps are known for. The paralleled first stage feeds a driver stage featuring performance proven Mullard circuitry. For the final stage, we have adopted a Mullard compatible push pull configuration to achieve an output power of 25 Watts per channel at 4, 8 and 16 ohm with very low distortion.

Independent speaker terminals for 4, 8 and 16 ohm speakers

The MQ-88uC has independent 4, 8 and 16 ohm speaker terminals to better match with and bring out the best abilities of any kind of speakers, allowing powerful music reproduction with very low distortion. The unit features a variable input (volume adjustable) mode in which the signal bypasses the input section, connecting a source device, such as a CD player, directly to the output section.

Output transformers play an important role in determining the sound quality and performance of a vacuum tube amp. LUXMAN’s classic amplifier products featured OY15 type output transformers with die-cast aluminum housings. These have been redesigned and reproduced with the original shape. The power supply section features a highly stable El type power transformer in tandem with custom designed blocking capacitors yielding steadfast sound quality and excellent drivability.

The main chassis of the MQ-88uC has a dark brown finish, different to the black finish of the MQ-88u. We feel this finish better matches our products with wooden exterior cases. The hairline finished aluminum top panel and matt black aluminum die-cast power transformer housings make for a harmonious match, fine quality and beauty being important to our designs.

Luxman's latest amplification feedback engine literally brings music to life with LIFES* Version 1.0

By feeding back only the distorted components generated in the audio signal’s journey to the final amp stage, LUXMAN’s proprietary “ODNF” amplification circuitry achieves excellent static characteristics and natural sound quality as if it were a “non-feedback” system. During the development of the M-10X flagship stereo power amplifier launched in 2021, technical concepts explored there were retained and the circuit configuration, which had become very complex over years of improvements has been completely redesigned to realize “LIFES” exquisite, high-fidelity sound and defines an amplification feedback engine blueprint for our next generation of components. The L-509Z is equipped with independent LIFES modules operating simultaneously in each of its fully discrete pre and power sections. The L-509Z is a pre-main amplifier that is worthy of the “single-chassis separates” concept that incorporates quality seperate units into a single, elegant chassis and has achieved an elevated level of musicality and unprecedented detail in comparison to other amplification circuits. The output section utilizes three stage Darlington bipolar transistors in quadruple-paralleled push-pull configuration to achieve outstanding output power and near perfect power linearity performance comparable to a standalone power amplifier, developing 120W+120W at 8 ohms and 220W+220W at 4 ohms.The result is spectacular sound quality with an abundance of energy.  *ODNF stands for “Only Distortion Negative Feedback” *LIFES stands for “Luxman Integrated Feedback Engine System”.

Electronically controlled attenuator LECUA-EX* incorporating an elaborate rotation mechanism

A tactile, satisfying volume control function is essential for audio amplifiers. To feed a fixed gain power amplifier with a musical signal at a level suitable for listening, precise control is required to smoothly attenuate the voltage while maintaining the quality of the input source. LECUA, developed by LUXMAN, is an electronically controlled attenuator system that switches through a series of high-quality, fixed value resistors for each channel independently. These are neatly arranged on the sub-assembly according to the position of the volume control knob. Since the release of the C-1000f control amplifier in 2006 to commemorate LUXMAN’s 80th anniversary, “LECUA1000”, which similarly integrates into the amplification circuitry, has been used in many LUXMAN products as a volume control system that minimizes the effects of external vibrations and changes in sound quality across the operating range of the volume control and is also resistant to deterioration over time. The L-509Z combines a highly precise rotary encoder with a newly developed weighted rotation mechanism to create the “LECUA-EX”, which offers even greater reliability and a natural, high-quality operational feel. 88 fine steps from 0 to 87dB and an acceleration setting for the speed at which the volume knob is rotated and a long-press setting for the remote control allow for comfortable and thorough volume control action with minimal degradation in sound quality.  *LECUA-EX stands for Luxman Electronically Controlled Ultimate Attenuator - Excellent eXperience

The L-509Z is equipped with LUXMAN’s traditional, highly stable power supply circuitry, featuring a bespoke, highly regulated 600VA El transformer and newly developed large-capacity filter capacitors (10,000μFx 8) .

The built-in high-quality phono equalizer circuit, which supports both MM and MC cartridges, features a new two-step gain switch to select between high and low MC settings to accommodate a wider range of MC cartridges, enriching quality vinyl playback in terms of both operation and sound quality. And a Mute-Button is now featured on the front panel.

In addition to BASS and TREBLE, a new MIDDLE control effective in the vocal and lead instrument frequencies bandwidth has been included. LR balance, line straight, loudness, and other functions are also conveniently at your fingertips.

Peel-coat circuit boards are used for the main audio signal path, eliminating the negative effects of the coating film that can adversely affect sound quality. Unique attention has been paid to every detail, such as the beeline construction, which configures circuits to take the shortest route possible, and a non-angled wiring pattern for smooth signal transmission.

Large, low resistance speaker relays are connected in parallel to transmit the driving force from the substantial power supply and output circuitry. Internal, 3.5mm2 ultra-thick cable is directly connected to the speaker terminals to ensure low impedance transmission, achieving a damping factor of 330 (current injection method).

The top panel is made of ultra-thick aluminum with an exquisite hairline finish. Large ventilation holes are carefully machined one by one to ensure efficient heat dissipation. Supporting the unit are four large insulator feet made from cast iron, their density gradient protecting the main chassis from unwanted external vibrations.

Large needle-movement VU level meter and 7-segment LED

Needle-movement type analog VU meters are traditional design statement, proudly characterizing LUXMAN’s solid state integrated amplifiers. The L-509Z is equipped with two large meters, brightly back-lit by LEDs, with sensitive response characteristics. The newly included 7-segment LED display in between the left and right level meters displays the current attenuation amount and is easily visible from the listening position.

In addition to the φ6.3mm standard terminal, a φ4.4mm terminal with independent left and right grounding has been added for pleasurable headphone enjoyment. Using balanced cable equipped headphones improves L-R separation and localization, surrounding the listener with gorgeous three-dimensional sound.

Original high regidity RCA terminals are used for LINE-1 and 2. Separate inputs and outputs for system expansion are provided with two pre-outputs. Two large speaker output terminals with independent on/off switching allow for bi-wire connectivity.

Luxman D-380 Compact Disc Player

A traditional LUXMAN design that brings new enjoyment to CD listening.

The D-380 is a digital CD player that can also play music through the vacuum tube output and which bears the number ‘38’ – a number synonymous with the golden era of LUXMAN vacuum tube amplifiers. This player features a vacuum tube output consisting of a buffer circuit using ECC82 vacuum tube and a dedicated transformer as well as an advanced digital circuit with a 32-bit compatible DAC and a jitter reduction IC. The D-380 is housed in a classical wooden box and enhances the enjoyment of listening to CD’s for the many fans of music played through this mature music medium.

Selection Function Between the Vacuum Tube Output and Semiconductor Output

As part of the ‘38’ series, the D-380 CD player is equipped with the function to select the output per musical taste by using a lever switch located on the front panel. The user can choose between a high purity semiconductor output that connects directly to the DAC chip or a vacuum tube output in which the buffer circuit using the ECC82 vacuum tube is connected to the high sound quality film capacitor and dedicated large output transformer. The semiconductor output supports sound with a vivid resolution and high quality source whilst the vacuum tube output brings a rich density and expression to the source with the appropriate addition of harmonic components. This switching of the tonal quality can be done even whilst a CD is playing. When the vacuum tube output is selected, the ECC82 is subtly illuminated, a rich design element that adds to the ambience.

The elegant exterior of the D-380 is housed in a full sized wooden box (440mm in width) with a natural veneer finish and a stylish hairlined surface on the front panel. When used together with the similarly housed LUXMAN amplifiers such as the LX-380 vacuum tube integrated amplifier, the effect is pleasing.

The Adoption of A Filter Embedded 32 bit DAC

The D-380 is equipped with a Texas Instruments PCM5102A DAC chip that supports 192kHz/32bit processing and incorporates a high-grade buffer amplifier. The embedded digital filter allows 2 types of tonal quality to be selected and reproduced without issue by remote control operation.

To achieve an accurate playback of the music on a disc, not only does the clock to transfer the data need to be highly accurate, but also fluctuation on the time axis (jitter) needs to be thoroughly eliminated. To realise this, the D-380 is equipped with a dedicated jitter reduction IC to suppress distortion originating from jitter at D/A conversion and achieve the expression of high quality sound. In addition to this, the digital audio can be outputted externally via the coaxial / optical line terminals (output ‘off’ is also selectable by remote control operation). The option of expanding or upgrading the system in the future, such as adding a digital recorder or D/A convertor, is also available.

The D-380 features a large, high quality, high visibility FL display with 4x zoom mode – a useful tool for remote operation from a listening position at distance from the system. The orange colour of the display takes into consideration the illumination environment of a listening room, whilst a dimmer (illumination switching) function can turn the display light off completely.

The D-380 features a left sided mechanism layout to accommodate the ideal flow for the sound signal and power supply as proven in the D series of SACD players. A new mechanical design has resulted in an 8mm thick solid aluminium base with a loopless and shielded box chassis to provide support for the drive mechanism and stability in reading the digital signal.

A stylish aluminium remote control is supplied with the D-380 enabling comfortable operation of the system from any listening position. The remote control allows the user to perform necessary functions such as the choice of various playback options. The articulator mode is also available by holding down the CLEAR button to refresh the sound quality by demagnetizing the output transformer of the vacuum tube circuit.

The D-380 has been designed to be durable with sufficient margin built in for the operating voltage and the heat radiation of the vacuum tube.

The E-250 is the latest phono amplifier from LUXMAN, inheriting the best in design from its predecessor the E-200 that has been the reference model for compact phono equalizer amplifiers since it was released in 2008. A newly added function to the E-250 is the switching capability of load impedance and load capacity according to the cartridge characteristics for the ultimate enjoyment of the original detail of analog reproduction. The E-250 allows the listener to adjust the fine settings for every performance, releasing the expression engraved in the grooves and creating a hitherto unknown musical impression.

The rear panel is equipped with a load impedance selector (34k/47k/56k/100kO) and a load capacity selector (0p/100p/220p/320pF) to match the characteristics of the cartridge and exploiting it to its full potential.

Specially Selected Embedded MC Transformer

The E-250 features a step-up transformer with a 2 stage gain selection function in which a L/R independent super permalloy core is used, thereby supporting even low impedance MC cartridges. This creates a rich and expressive musicality that is only possible by boosting of the transformer.

The newly developed low profile, large capacity block capacitor together with a regulator circuit with discrete configuration that are used in the power supply circuit achieve the desired high quality power supply environment. The E-250 power supply circuit also features LUXMAN’s original round pattern board allowing the smooth transmission of the delicate sound signals.

The articulation function is designed to demagnetize the cartridge and the MC transformer using the signal current of music reproduced when magnetization of the cartridge has caused the sound quality to deteriorate. The articulation function can help to restore the cartridge to its original characteristics and maintain quality at a maximum level.

The NF type equalizer circuit in the E-250 features many of LUXMAN’s original and custom built parts. This equalizer has a high S/N ratio which reduces noise by connecting the first stage FET in parallel. A monaural switch when playing a monaural record is provided as well as a low cut switch that cuts out low frequency signals that can be generated by distorted records.

The input can be selected from the front panel with ‘one touch’ operation from 2 players or a player with a twin arm. The option to easily change the cartridge type with respect to the input allows a favourite cartridge to be chosen for each phonograph record.

RIAA-Dedicated Non-Feedback CR type Amplification Circuit

All stages of the EQ-500 are vacuum tube. For the 1 and 2 stage a SRPP (Shunt Regulated Push-Pull) circuit is used which features low impedance, low distortion and prolongs the life of vacuum tubes. For the final stage a cathode follower parallel circuit is used with the ability to lower impedance further.The excellent sound quality of the CR circuit, supported by linear characteristics, is a direct result of the quality and accuracy of the parts used. LUXMAN has achieved the ultimate in high grade analog reproduction in the EQ-500 thanks to more than half a century of experience in manufacturing vacuum tube amplifiers and the selection of high performance parts. To protect minute analog signals from noise and magnetic field interference, the main sections of the EQ-500 are strongly shielded. The loopless chassis design of the EQ-500 isolates any ground impedance increase and magnetic field caused by the chassis current.

The EQ-500 features a load capacity selection function from which 6 levels (0/50/100/150/200/300pF) can be selected according to the characteristics of the cartridge to be used. An integral part of the design of the L-505uXII is LUXMAN's original ODNF amplification feedback circuit featuring a high-speed primary slew rate, an ultra-wide bandwidth and a low level of distortion that is achieved by feeding back only the distorted components of the audio from the amplifier's output circuit. The L-505uXII is equipped with the latest Version 4.0 ODNF circuit, resulting in a dramatically enhanced accuracy in distortion detection due to the paralleled first stage and Darlington equipped second stage amplification circuit, as well as a paralleled first stage error detection circuit. Highly Accurate LECUA Computerized Attenuator

LECUA (Luxman Electronically Controlled Ultimate Attenuator) is at the heart of the pre-amplifier section and the sound volume adjustment function of the L-505uXII. The L-505uXII design also uses a solid state(IC) type circuit to achieve a significant reduction in size. LECUA provides an ideal level control mechanism that allows smooth and fine volume adjustment over 88 steps, thereby minimizing any deterioration of the audio signal. In addition, left and right balance adjustment is integrated into the attenuator's control functions. The multifunctional ability of LECUA ensures accuracy over the full range of the volume control, whilst suppressing any deterioration of sound quality. The volume may also be adjusted with the remote control, but when adjusting the volume manually, the tactile design and gradual motion of the control itself enables intuitive adjustment of the attenuation level.

The L-505uXII features a new discrete buffer circuit in the output stage of the pre-amplifier circuit that is equivalent to the type used in our high-end C-900u separate amplifier. The pre-amp output stage is able to drive the signal with enhanced current supply capacity. The clarity of the audio signal is protected, whilst at the same time, the driving force fed through to the power amplifier stage is significantly increased. The power and reproduction capability of the L-505uXII achieves overwhelming scale sensitivity and a sharpness on start-up that cannot be achieved by conventional pre-amplifiers.

The power supply of the L-505uXII consists of an EI core type power transformer, highly regulated, with four large capacity 10,000µF blocking capacitors creating a highly stable power supply. This ensures an instantaneous, constant and stable current supply.

Large-capacity, low resistance speaker relays are connected in parallel to enable lossless transmission for the powerful driving force that is generated by the large-scale output circuit. In addition, the damping factor has been improved from 180 to 210 by lowering the impedance of the wiring pattern.

Original Technologies Prioritize Sound Quality

To realize a smooth, stress free signal transmission LUXMAN use an original Beeline construction that features a non-angled wiring pattern to allow smooth signal transmission along the shortest optimal route. This is one of many examples of a LUXMAN original design that makes sound quality a priority.

OFC cabling is used in the internal wiring of the L-505uXII, achieving natural signal transmission due to the spirally wrapped shielding on each non-plated wire core. A high quality input selector IC is employed to improve separation and eliminate crosstalk. This model is generously equipped with many custom-made parts designed to achieve high sound quality such as in-line layout speaker terminals for easier speaker cable connection.

The L-505uXII is equipped with a high quality phono pre-amplifier that is compatible with MM and MC cartridges supporting full analog reproduction. The L-509X integrates the features of both a high quality separate amplifier and a high performance integrated amplifier into one product. The goal of creating an ideal integrated amplifier, initiated by LUXMAN with the launch of the L-509fSE in 2002, has now been advanced with the development of the L-509X. The L-509X integrated amplifier is equipped with many desirable features, such as the New LECUA1000 and a discretely configured buffer circuit in the output stage of the pre-amplifier circuit. LUXMAN’s ODNF (Only Distortion Negative Feedback) original amplifier feedback circuit and a power supply with independent left and right channel blocking capacitors are intrinsic to this design, as well as many components used only in high end models, ensuring high-quality audio reproduction. The L-509X features a top panel with a beautiful hair-line finish and widened venting to improve heat dissipation. The loop-less chassis structure restricts any increase in ground impedance. Analog level meters, illuminated with white LEDs, add to the elegant and stylish appearance.

The L-509X is equipped with a high-quality phono amplifier, compatible with MM and MC cartridges. This model offers all the functions that a high quality integrated amplifier should, including bass and treble tone controls, L/R balance adjustment controlled by LECUA, pre/power separation function, volume control and headphone output, all integrated into a single unit without compromising sound quality.

High quality RCA terminals, made of copper alloy, are used for the LINE-1 inputs of the L-509X, combining the beneficial conductivity of copper and durability of brass. The L-509X features many custom-made components befitting a flagship model, such as the robust power supply and high-grade speaker terminals that are compatible with Y-connectors.

Thorough vibration countermeasures have been taken, using cast iron feet with a density gradient to eliminate resonance. The high grade, aluminium body remote control is also supplied as standard.

The highly stable power supply circuit developed for the L-509X features a 600 VA EI-core-type power transformer and independent left and right channel large capacity blocking capacitors (10,000µFx4 per channel). This generous custom specification ensures that the power supply unit will not be affected by any load fluctuation.

The L-509X is equipped with a discrete buffer circuit that is equivalent to the type used in the high-end LUXMAN C-900u separate amplifier. The clarity of the audio signal is preserved by this circuit whilst at the same time the following power amplification stage's driving force is significantly increased.

The use of crack-resistant peel coat PCBs for the amplifier boards prevent the quality of audio signals being adversely affected. This product prioritizes audio quality in features such as the non-angled, direct wiring pattern, known as the original LUXMAN’s Beeline construction, ensuring smooth signal transmission via the optimum shortest route.

Large-capacity, low resistance speaker relays are connected in parallel, enabling loss-less transmission of the powerful driving force that is generated by the generous power supply circuit and the amplifier output section of the L-509X. The use of 3.5mm2 cabling for the amplifier board output and the unit's damping factor of 370 enables the L-509X to drive all kinds of speakers accurately.

LUXMAN's New LECUA1000 is at the heart of the preamp section and the volume adjustment control of the L-509X. This computerized attenuator is integrated with the amplification circuit, a feature integral to the high-end LUXMAN C-900u control amplifier. LECUA provides an ideal level control system which allows smooth and fine adjustment of the volume over 88 steps, thereby minimising the deterioration of audio quality at any point of the volume adjustment range. An advancement of the New LECUA1000 is the 3D design layout. The attenuator circuit board is directly connected to the amplification circuit board. A pre-amplifier circuit-integrated computerized attenuator, new LECUA* 1000, equivalent to that used in the higher grade L-590AXII model is mounted in the volume adjustment unit, playing a critical role in the pre amplifier section.The renovation was made to the buffer circuit input stage to allow smooth volume adjustment in 88 steps thereby minimizing the deterioration of sound quality. Additionally, a 3D layout has been introduced in the new LECUA1000 allowing the substrates to be placed in three dimensions. The attenuator circuit is connected directly to the amplification circuit to make the shortest signal routes and improve efficiency. The LECUA1000 has exceptional durability and is capable of controlling the changes in sound quality that may occur due to external vibrations or sound volume adjustment.

The ODNF, LUXMAN original amplification feedback circuit, features a fast primary slew rate and an ultra-wide bandwith achieved through the feedback of distortion components only from the output signals. The L-550AXII is equipped with the latest version of ODNF - Version 4.0 - in which the distortion characteristics at high frequencies as well as the S/N performance have been significantly improved. Version 4.0 ODNF also features a large scale power amplifier with a parallel push pull structure where 3 stage Darlington is used. Both of these features are inherited from the M-700u power amplifier and the higher grade integrated L-590AXII. A rated output of 20W +20W (8O) of pure class A amplification achieves a mellow, expressive sound with a heightened sense of density with high drivability to speaker systems.

A high-inertia power supply circuit that combines a large capacity EI core type power transformer (to which a vibration control feature has been newly added) and a large capacitor block (10,000uF x4) is an integral part of the L-550AXII. This large capacity power supply circuit supports the sound dynamics of the unit by enhancing stability at the core of the design.

A discrete buffer circuit that is the equivalent to those used in the top end LUXMAN C-900u separate amplifier is mounted on the output stage of the pre-amplifier circuit. This protects the purity of the audio signals whilst simultaneously enhancing the drive force for the power amplifier.

The large capacity, low resistance speaker relays are connected in parallel in order to transmit the powerful drive force that is generated by the high inertia power supply circuit and the large scale output circuit without loss. Connecting directly to the speaker terminals in this way significantly improves the damping factor from 160 to 200.

The L-550AXII is designed using proprietary technology and customised parts to optimise the sound quality of this integrated amplifier. For example, the round pattern board enabling smooth signal transmission, and a Beeline construction configuring the optimal parts locations and the shortest signal routes. In addition to this, the loopless chassis structure minimizes the ground impedance increase.

Original LUXMAN OFC wires are used in the internal wiring of the L-550AXII achieving a smooth signal transmission due to the spiral wrap shielding on each core and the non-plating process on the core wire. The L-550AXII is equipped with a fully-fledged phono amplifier that is compatible with MM/MC cartridges. The LX-380 represents a new era in golden ‘38’ series vacuum tube integrated amplifiers from LUXMAN. Providing an exceptionally deep resonance of sound sources of various ages and genres, the LX-380 combines LECUA* - a computerized attenuator which carefully reproduces the dynamism of each performance - with a power amplifier circuit that expresses the rich musicality of the 6L6GC output tube. Housed in a wooden case that is reminiscent of the 28 series, the LX-380 appeals to a new generation with a winning combination of cutting edge technology and traditional know-how. *LECUA is an abbreviation of Luxman Electric Controlled Ultimate Attenuator.

The LX-380 is equipped with the 6L6GC beam power tube that has a reputation for high quality, stability and a delicate, soft tonal quality. The rated output of 20W+20W that is sufficient for a domestic sound system is achieved through the combination of a powerful, flexible Mullard type driver stage with a push pull structure final stage. This adopts a fixed bias type to maintain a constant grid voltage. The auditory drive force that is created by a vacuum tube amplifier is not easily quantified. The LX-380 is the first vacuum tube amplifier to feature LECUA, the proprietary computerized control attenuator from LUXMAN that enables the sound to be adjusted smoothly with minimal deterioration using an 88-step method. The LX-380 uses the same high sound quality semiconductor circuit that has been successfully proven in integrated amplifiers such as the L-590AX.

The LX-380 is equipped with an electronically controlled tone control function (bass/treble) for delicate adjustments to the tonal quality per the sound source and listening environment, with 3 selectable turnover frequency positions. The loudness mode interlocks with the sound volume to enable the correction of bass and treble ranges depending on human hearing characteristics.

Due to their profound sound quality, analog records are now becoming popular again and the LX-380 is therefore equipped with a high sound quality semiconductor structured phono amplifier circuit that is compatible with MM/MC types. This circuit derives from the concept of the LUXMAN integrated amplifier and allows users to enjoy genuine analog record playback without adding an extra dedicated phono amplifier. A subsonic switch is provided on the front panel to suppress any woofer fluctuation that is caused by low frequency signals from warped records as well as a monaural switch to activate L channel or R channel with the same signal at monaural record playback. Future Proof Separate Amplifier Structure

The pre/main amplifier circuits can be separated by a switch enabling the bi-amplifier structure in which a power amplifier can be added and the surround sound environment enhanced using an AV amplifier. The LX-380 is designed so that it can be expanded as part of a system for future upgrades and has a headphone output for private sound enjoyment.

The rear panel of the LX-380 is equipped with 18mm pitch gold plated RCA terminals to support high grade line cables with large plugs and speaker terminals (2 lines) in inline layout, and are compatible with Y lugs to connect easily with extra thick speaker cables.

The LX-380 has been designed to be durable with sufficient margin built in for operating voltage and heat radiation from the vacuum tube.

The LX-380 represents a new era in golden ‘38’ series vacuum tube integrated amplifiers from LUXMAN. Providing an exceptionally deep resonance of sound sources of various ages and genres, the LX-380 combines LECUA* - a computerized attenuator which carefully reproduces the dynamism of each performance - with a power amplifier circuit that expresses the rich musicality of the 6L6GC output tube.
